San Diego side OMBAC has gone part of the way towards making up for its
disappointing loss in the Super League final by winning the National Sevens
Championship for the second year in a row.

The Old Mission Beach Athletic Club retained its title by downing the Denver
Barbarians 17-7 in the Championship final in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania.

The event was marred by rain which forced the cancellation of games in the
Bowl and Plate divisions.

OMBAC went into the event as the number one seed and lived up to its top
billing by notching impressive wins in the quarter-final and semi-final
rounds over the Maryland Exiles and NOVA (Northern Virginia) respectively.

Denver made it into the Championship game with playoff victories against
rival Western clubs Belmont Shore (Los Angeles) and perennial contenders Old
Puget Sound Beach (Seattle). The Barbos' win over OPSB came via a penalty
goal in sudden death overtime.

The Cup final saw OMBAC score three tries to one to run out deserved winners
and clinch their second consecutive national title.
