Dalton after greater consistency
August 16, 2001

The Falcons may be heading the Bankfin Currie Cup Section X log, but captain James Dalton doesn't believe they are assured of a place in the next phase.

The robust hooker will lead the Falcons out against his old team the Lions at Johannesburg's Ellis Park on Saturday, knowing that an away victory over the injury-ravaged opposition will go a long way to securing a Top Eight berth.

However, the former Bok hooker says that that is the furthest thing from his mind at the moment. "We've been unbeaten in our last seven matches and we'd like to build on that," he told Beeld. "I just want the Falcons to be consistent. If we lose, it must be to a better side."

He added that he doesn't believe him having played for the Lions will give them an advantage. "The whole set-up at the Lions has changed and things are truly professional now, so my previous connections with the union won't play a part."

The Falcons are currently setting the pace with a fullhouse of 10 points from two games, while the Lions are in second place with nine, although they have played a game more.
