Healey set for disciplinary
September 5, 2001

Lions bad boy Austin Healey faces a disciplinary hearing tomorrow for the his outspoken newspaper comments during the recent tour to Australia.

In Dublin, Healey will appear before a three-man panel of tour manager Donal Lenihan of Ireland, coach Graham Henry and Lions captain Martin Johnson.

Fellow Lions Matt Dawson has already been fined £5,000 by the Lions for comments he made in his newspaper column during the tour and it is expected Healey will face a similar fate.

Healey's column, that appeared regulary in The Guardian newspaper during the tour was ghosted by writer/broadcaster and former Wales international Eddie Butler.

If Healey's comments about the Wallabies where he called them 'arrogant' and in particular singled out lock Justin Harrison as a 'plod' and a 'plank' can be attributed to Butler, the question would then remain whether Healey was aware of the remarks and whether he had checked them with the management.

Healey has not said anything about the column since the tour ended but is expected to give a full summary in his book about the tour which is being published next month.
