Rassie at No.8 for Cheetahs
September 13, 2001

Discarded Springbok Johan Erasmus makes a welcome return to Bankfin Currie Cup action on Saturday when he plays at No 8 for the Free State Cheetahs in their clash with the Natal Sharks in Bloemfontein.

Erasmus (pictured) suffered a foot injury in training more than a month ago and aggravated the injury in the Cheetahs game against the Griffons. He is, however, fit again and a good performance against the strong Sharks side should boost his chances of making the South African side for the end-of-year tour.

Also back in the starting line-up after joining the action from the bench in the Cheetahs last game is Springbok flank Andre Venter. The promising Gerrie Britz makes way for Venter, while the equally impressive Kobus Grobbelaar is the unfortunate player who falls out to accommodate Erasmus.

These two changes to the loose-trio are the only Free State coach Peet Kleynhans made to his side, who is keen to get their campaign back on track after their shock defeat to the Falcons.

Cheetahs: Isak Job, Wylie Human, Helgard Brink, MJ Smith, Edrick Fredericks, Conrad Barnard, Neil Powell, Johan Erasmus, Andre Venter, Hendro Scholtz, Boela du Plooy (capt), Joe Beukes, Dougie Heymans, Andre van Niekerk, Daan Human. Substitutes: Andries van der Linden, Danie Saaiman, Gerrie Britz, Gromingo Mzunga, Jimmy Powell, JP du Toit, Leon van den Heever.
