Wallaby Young escapes penalty
September 18, 2001

Wallaby and Eastwood prop Bill Young has escaped punishment on charges from the recent Sydney club grand final against University.

The NSWRU Judiciary Committee dismissed charges against Young for dangerous play (stamping or trampling). Young, who pleaded his innocence last week, was concerned any suspension would have disrupted the start of the upcoming Wallaby tour of Canada and Europe.

However, some of Young's Eastwood team-mates were not so lucky.

Aaron Broughton-Rouse and Travis Hall were each suspended for six matches on charges of dangerous play (stamping or trampling). Hall escaped penalty on a charge of punching.

Also suspended were Eastwood players Jeff Reid for three matches on the same charge, while Adam Leach was suspended for four matches for dangerous play (kneeing head of an opponent).
