Saracens lose Magellan after back op

Saracens' French prop Romain Magellan is recovering today after undergoing surgery yesterday on a bulging disc in his back.

He sustained the injury a fortnight ago in training forcing him to miss the last two Zurich Premiership games.

Magellan, who signed at the start of the season from French club Grenoble, is a well respected scrummager and brings much experience to the Saracens front row.

Meanwhile prop David Flatman returns to training this week after suffering a fractured right hand during the club's final warm up game in the Philippe Sella Trophy, against Agen on August 25.

And South African Jannie de Beer has also been cleared to return to training. He limped off in the second quarter against Edinburgh Reivers in another warm up match on August 11, sustaining medial ligament damage to his knee.
