Former Test players Rassie Erasmus and Thinus Delport have withdrawn from the South African 'A' squad for their tour to Europe next month.

Both players advised the Springbok management that they would be unfit to go on tour, but Springbok communications manager Keohane said on Sunday that the duo have been requested to assemble with the 'A' squad in Pretoria on Monday for a medical check-up.

"Rassie and Thinus informed us at the weekend that they had been medically advised to opt out of the tour. Nevertheless, we want our medical team to have a look at them as well.

"I spoke to Francois Davids (national convener of selectors) on Sunday morning and should Rassie and Thinus' withdrawals be confirmed, they will be replaced by Eastern Province fullback Ricardo Laubscher and Sharks No 8 Shaun Sowerby," said Keohane.

Laubscher, who enjoyed a very good Vodacom Super 12 playing for the Sharks this season, toured with the Boks last year, while Sowerby was last week named as captain of the SA under-23 team that plays Morocco in the Africa Cup final. - Sapa
