Back: We regained our dignity
November 10, 2001

Stand-in skipper Neil Back said England's main aim on Saturday in their Cook Cup triumph over arch-rivals Australia at Twickenham was to regain their dignity after their Six Nations disappointment in Dublin.

England relied on the boot of Jonny Wilkinson to run out 21-15 winners with the Wallabies showing just why they are world champions with an impressive defensive display.

Time and again England's attacks were repelled and in the second half the Australians typically hit back to score the game's only tries.

But delighted captain Back told Sky Sports 2: "We said before the game that win or lose, we do it with dignity and honour. We did not do that in Ireland and we did today.

"It's been hard work this week, a tough test but the guys pulled through and it was a fantastic performance. It's all about winning and that's what we've done."
