SARFU announce profitable year
December 6, 2001

In spite of the poor form of the national side the South African Rugby Union announced an impressive net profit of R6.3-million at its AGM in Cape Town on Thursday.

Rian Oberholzer, attending his last meeting in the capacity of Sarfu chief executive, said the union, was encouraged by its stable financial performance.

Oberholzer was in August appointed as the first managing director of SA Rugby (Pty) Ltd, the newly created commercial arm of Sarfu.

Mveleli Ncula will take up the post of Sarfu chief executive from January 2002.

Sarfu president Silas Nkanunu thanked Oberholzer for his contribution over the past five years and welcomed Ncula.
