Logan hungry as ever for international honours
January 2, 2002

Wasps' Kenny Logan has insisted that he is as hungry as ever to wear the Scotland jersey despite suggestions that his international days are over.

Logan reached the 50-cap milestone last year but did not feature in coach Ian McGeechan's autumn internationals squad but he refused to write off his international chances.

Logan declared: "I know some people have been writing me off as a has-been at international level, but I have been through all this speculation before.

"As far as I am concerned, I am nowhere near the end of my time at the top level. I had been bothered by a couple of niggly injuries in the first half of the season, but I am now 100% and desperate to get back into the Scotland set-up.

"I am still only 29, which is not that old for an outside back, and I reckon I have four or five good years in me yet."

Logan was delighted to discover that McGeechan had been present at Wasps' recent Zurich Premiership victory over Leeds, a game in which he received rave reviews.

He said: "Sometimes you do feel a bit isolated from the Scotland selectors down here, but I hope on this occasion that I will have done enough to prove to Ian that I am worth thinking about again.

"Ian obviously used the November matches as a chance to take a look at some other young players, but I hope for the Six Nations he will revert to the guys who have done a good job in the past.

"Playing for Scotland is still my prime ambition and I will be as excited about picking up my next cap as I was when I made my debut in Australia almost a decade ago."
