Ibanez faces spell on sidelines
January 10, 2002

French hooker Raphael Ibanez will hear on Friday how long he faces on the sidelines after it was revealed he had pulled a cruciate ligament in his right knee.

The 28-year-old former French captain, who skippered the side to the 1998 Five Nations Grand Slam and the 1999 World Cup Final, has not played since November 24 because of the injury but only underwent a scan on Wednesday.

Ibanez, who has rediscovered his international form this season and scored the try that saw off the Springboks 20-10 in November, is definitely out of Saturday's crucial European Cup clash between his side Castres and Ireland's 2000 finalists Munster. - Sapa
