Galthie injury doubt for Six Nations opener

France's captain and scrum'half Fabien Galthie is in doubt for the Six Nations opener against Italy this weekend after injuring his knee in Stade Francais's 14-16 loss against Munster in a European Cup quarter-final on Saturday.

"Fabien will have X-ray checks in the afternoon. He feels a slight pain in the internal ligament of the right knee," French manager Jo Maso said today.

"He's not in great pain but it's better not to take risks. In case he could not play, he would be replaced by Frederic Michalak," Maso added.

"It happened in a tackle on Saturday. It hurts a little. I hope to be able to play but we'll see," he said.

"If it's serious, I won't play," he added.
