The board executive committee of SA Rugby (Pty) Ltd on Monday completed the interview process that will culminate in the appointment of the new Springbok coach early next month.

The four shortlisted candidates - Eastern Province coach Allister Coetzee, Cardiff's Rudy Joubert, Sharks coach Rudolf Straeuli and former Springbok assistant coach Jake White - were selected last week from 35 applicants who had responded to an advertisement for the post.

They were interviewed at SA Rugby's Newlands headquarters by a panel comprising of Silas Nkanunu, Ronnie Masson, Keith Parkinson, Arthob Petersen, Dr Theunie Lategan, Rian Oberholzer, Mveleli Ncula, Andre Markgraaff and human resources specialist Elna van Niekerk.

Markgraaff was on the panel in his capacity as a member of the Sarfu Technical Advisory Committee and van Niekerk coordinated the psychometric tests that formed part of the interviews.

"All four candidates were impressive," said Nkanunu. "The board executive committee will carefully consider each applicant before finalising its recommendation".

The Board Executive Committee will now make a recommendation to the full Board of SA Rugby (Pty) Ltd, which will confirm the appointment of the new coach during its conference in Johannesburg at the beginning of March.
