Ireland make one change for Scotland clash
February 26, 2002

Ireland have made just one change from the side hammered by England for this Saturday's Lloyds TSB Six Nations Championship match against Scotland.

The Irish return to Lansdowne Road this weekend with fans still shell-shocked from their 45-11 mauling at Twickenham at the hands of England 10 days ago.

But coach Eddie O'Sullivan and his fellow selectors have resisted the temptation to wield the axe with the only change being the enforced introduction of Leinster's Shane Horgan on the wing due to the absence of the injured Geordan Murphy.

Defending his decision to stand by his defeated players, O'Sullivan said: "We went into the England game with what we believed was the best team and that hasn't changed.

"I always said we would have to be at the top of our game to beat England and we clearly weren't.

"But it was more of a case that we underperformed rather than us not having our best players."
