USA Rugby gets new president
March 5, 2002

Neal Brendel, former USA Rugby executive vice president, has elected as the organization's new president at the Board of Directors meeting in New
Orleans, Louisiana.

Filling Brendel's former position of Executive Vice President will be Bob
Latham. Jen Crawford will take the seat of Athlete Vice President.

Both Pat O'Connor and Fred Roedel will continue to fulfill their roles as
Secretary and Treasurer after being re-elected.

A majority of the Board of Directors elected Brendel by private ballot. He
ran against past presidents Anne Barry and Terry Fleener. Mike Dunafon, the
fourth candidate, withdrew his nomination prior to the election.

The former Eagle's two-year term will begin immediately. Brendel's platform
focused on growing non-CIPP revenues, broadening USA Rugby's financial
resource base, assisting in the development and implementation of the
professional league, lowering the age of players introduced to the game and
strengthening USA Rugby's International profile and leverage within regional
and International governing bodies.

Brendel is currently a player for the Pittsburgh Old-Boys, and is also a
representative to the iRB, as well as the North American West Indies Rugby
Association.
