Fresh deadline for World Cup dispute
March 6, 2002

The Australian Rugby Union (ARU) have given the New Zealand Rugby Football Union (NZRFU) a Friday deadline to negotiate a settlement over the World Cup 2003 schedule.

The official World Cup draw, due to take place in Sydney next Tuesday, had already been postponed.

International Rugby Board officials confirmed the draw had been put back because of the ongoing row between the Australian and New Zealand Unions over the division and schedule of matches.

The IRB received a special plea from the NZRFU requesting additional time to respond to concerns over the timing of the National Provincial Championship and the completion of the Host Union Agreement.
