Ryan carded for off-field punch

ACT Brumbies No.8 Peter Ryan was given an off-field yellow card following a punching incident in his team's 38-8 win over the Sharks at Canberra Stadium on Friday night.

A Brumbies spokesman said on Saturday Ryan was found guilty of striking Sharks and Springbok flanker AJ Venter.

The decision leaves Ryan free to join the Brumbies squad which leaves for South Africa on Sunday morning and to play next weekend against the Bulls in Pretoria.

But the rugby league convert is only two yellow cards away from serving a compulsory one-match suspension.

The Brumbies remain on top of the Super 12 table after their four tries to one victory, which also secured the Super 12 champions a bonus point.
