Waratahs v Cats - Preview
March 14, 2002

The Waratahs will be looking to maintain their strong start to this year's Super 12 when they entertain the Cats on Saturday.

WALKING WOUNDED
Prop Patricio Noriega suffered rib cartilage damage against the Bulls and could be given time to recover fully.
One of the few highlights for the Cats this season was the form of centre Gcobani Bobo but a knee injury sustained against the Highlanders will put him out for the season. And among a few other niggles, Dean Hall has a sore finger, Louis Koen is struggling with a slight shoulder injury, and prop Willie Meyer's Achilles tendon is bothering him.

FORM
There seems little stopping the Waratahs at the moment. Three away wins is simply unheard of and their 51-19 demolition of the Bulls has many asking if the under-achieving Waratahs will finally make the semi-finals.
The Cats have conceded 104 points in their past two outings and now come up against a very sharp Waratahs. There was some improvement in the 40-8 loss to the Highlanders, but things must get a lot better if they are to worry the Waratahs.

WHO'S HOT
Waratahs captain Matt Burke is running around at outside-centre like he has played there all his life. Racked up 21 points against the Bulls and scored a brilliant individual try from 60m out. A class act.
Cats trio Jannes Labuschagne, Russel Winter and Dean Hall won plenty of kudos when they came to the rescue of some distressed swimmers at Manly beach on Sunday afternoon. Now if someone will only come and save the Cats from their lowly position on the ladder. And good to see Hall get some involvement somewhere ... again he saw little ball against the Highlanders.

KEY MATCH-UPS
Mat Rogers v Conrad Jantjes
Chris Whitaker v Deon de Kock
Jono West v Jannes Labuschagne

WE THINK
The Waratahs are back home for the first time this season and you can bet their fans will be out in force just to see first hand what all the fuss is about. Waratahs by 18.
