Zurich boost for Sport Relief
March 18, 2002
Rugby's "Pay to Play" weekend to benefit the Sport Relief charity provided a windfall of £4,800 courtesy of Zurich as 24 tries were recorded in the weekend's Premiership action. Sport Relief's 'Pay to Play' scheme involved rugby clubs and players at all levels donating money in whatever form they could - from win bonuses, a percentage of their match subs, or a whip-round in the clubhouse after the match. Zurich had pledged to donate £100 per try scored in the Zurich Premiership over the weekend of 16 March to support rugby's official "Pay to Play" weekend in aid of Sport Relief, and have doubled this amount today to £200 per try.
