Skinstad looks for positives

Injured Stormers No 8 Bob Skinstad believes his team still have a very realistic chance of reaching the Super 12 semifinals, despite two losses at home to the Waratahs and Highlanders.

The Bok captain, currently recuperating after undergoing a shoulder operation earlier in the season, said Saturday's 21-20 loss at Newlands to Laurie Mains' Highlanders was not the end of the road.

"The guys have always proved they are capable of picking up points on tour," he told the Cape Times.

"If we pick up 10 points on our tour and another 10 from the two games (against the Cats and Bulls) when we come back, then we are in with a shout, and that's excluding the Brumbies game.

"You must look at 30 points as a figure to try and qualify (for the semifinals). If we pick up 20 from the next seven, and that's not a big ask, I think we're in with a shout," he added.

The Stormers face the Brumbies in Cape Town on Saturday. The defending champions are unbeaten in 2002 and currently lead the competition with fellow Aussies the Waratahs.
