Leicester - Llanelli a sell-out
March 26, 2002

Next month's Heineken Cup semi-final between holders Leicester and Welsh challengers Llanelli is a 29,500 sell-out.

The game - at Nottingham Forest's City Ground on April 28 - will set a new tournament semi-final crowd record.

"We have been delighted by the support of the Welsh rugby public - not just from Llanelli, but all over Wales - for this huge match," said Llanelli chief executive Stuart Gallacher.

"Our decision to support the team with the offer of free coach travel to the semi-final, demonstrates the club's commitment to both the team and supporters in ensuring we have as many fans in Nottingham as Leicester."

Gallacher's Leicester counterpart Peter Wheeler, though, expressed disappointment that more Tigers fans would not be at the Anglo-Welsh showdown.

"We are delighted it is a sell-out, and the atmosphere should be fantastic for such an important game," Wheeler said.

"We are just disappointed that all our supporters will not be able to be at the semi-final, as we could have sold at least another 7,000 tickets."
