Vickery set to sign new deal

Gloucester and England star Phil Vickery is poised to sign a new three year deal with the Cherry and Whites next week.

According to reports Vickery spent yesterday morning in further negotiations with Tom Walkinshaw, the club owner, before he flew out to the Brazilian Grand Prix in his other role as owner of the OrangeArrows Formula One team.

After four months of stalled talks, a breakthrough was made and the player will end the uncertainty about his future by agreeing a new deal worth an estimated £200,000 a year.
