France may lose Marsh
April 5, 2002

France's hopes of its first Grand Slam in four years has received a blow with the possible loss of centre Tony Marsh.
Marsh, who was born in New Zealand but is a naturalised Frenchman, is coming off a try-scoring double in last month's win over Scotland, but looks doubtful for the match because of a calf injury.

A decision on the Montferrand centre's place in the team will be made on either Friday or Saturday, with Toulouse star Clement Poitrenaud his likely replacement if ruled out of the match against Ireland.

Should the tough tackling Montferrand centre, who has formed an outstanding partnership with Damien Traille in the seven-match unbeaten run by the French, fail to make it then he is likely to be replaced by Toulouse star Clement Poitrenaud.
