Wilson rattle the Hurricanes
April 5, 2002

A piece of Jeff Wilson brilliance has guided the Highlanders to a 19-10 Super 12 win against the Hurricanes at Carisbrook.

With the game evenly poised with the Highlanders leading 14-10 with five minutes to go, Wilson swooped on a chip ahead by Hurricanes fullback Christian Cullen and raced untouched from 35m out to score his 34th Super 12 try. It was superb skills by Wilson to pick the ball up in one hand and at speed.

The try ensured the Highlanders maintained their imposing record at Carisbrook and they join the Waratahs on 25 points, setting up an intriguing battle in Sydney next week.

The Highlanders scored two tries to one, with both five pointers coming in the second-half after trailing 10-6 at half-time.

Hurricanes winger Jonah Lomu scored the only try in the first-half after a typical blockbusting run down the flank in the 15th minute.
