Sharks v Crusaders - Preview
April 18, 2002

VENUE & TIME: Durban - Sunday - 1:05 AEST
COVERAGE: Fox Sports
LAST TIME: Crusaders 34-24 - Christchurch

WALKING WOUNDED
The Sharks will yet again be without Springbok trio Mark Andrews (Achilles), Andre Snyman (knee) and Trevor Halsted (knee). And coach Kevin Putt has rested fullback Thinus Delport and No.8 Shaun Sowerby. Putt earlier this week said his "evaluation process" is at this stage more important than results hence the changes.
The Crusaders came through their bruising encounter with the Stormers injury free, but fullback Leon MacDonald may be given some time off just to give his body a rest after a couple of heavy knocks in recent weeks, including Stormers rock Corne Krige. Robbie Deans has little to worry about though when you can call in someone like Ben Blair as a replacement. Flyhalf Andrew Mehrtens has overcome a stomach bug that kept him out of the Stormers game.

FORM
The Sharks made it two on the trot with a 21-18 win against the Chiefs ... unfortunately, it's all too late. The Crusaders machine rolls on this time with a commanding 41-21 win against the Stormers to remain undefeated after seven games.

WHO'S HOT
No player really stood out for the Sharks, so once again new coach Kevin Putt walks tall taking the side to two successive wins.
Crusaders hooker Mark Hammett was full of running against the Stormers in his best game of the season.

WE THINK
Despite their lowly performance, the Sharks present a major danger to competition-leading Crusaders in Durban. The Sharks have made it two wins on the trot and at home are a particularly tough assignment. The other opposition would really love the Sharks to belt the Crusaders around a bit and for the Cats to do the same next week. But the Crusaders seem to be able to soak whatever is dished out to them and return it on the scoreboard. This will be tough, but Crusaders by 7.
