Finegan, Paul to play
April 19, 2002

Owen Finegan and Jeremy Paul will both play for the Brumbies in their crucial match against the Waratahs on Saturday night.

Both had been in doubt for the game at Aussie Stadium, Finegan after spending several days in hospital this week with an infected knee and Paul with an ankle injury that kept him out of last week's loss to the Hurricanes.

But both came through tests at training at Canberra Stadium on Friday morning and have been passed fit to play, though Finegan admitted he won't be 100 per cent.

"I definitely don't feel 100 per cent," he said. "After spending five days in a hospital bed there's a bit of lethargic feeling there ... but I've always been looking forward to this game."

Scott Fava will remain on standby right up until game time in case there are any complications with Finegan's knee, but coach David Nucifora is delighted to have both back and ready to play.

"We're very happy that they've both come through, they're experience in games like this count a lot, and it gives the team a real lift," he said. "If we get back to the ability that we have rather than how we performed last Saturday we'll do very well tomorrow night."

While Finegan and Paul will play in the match, New South Wales winger Marc Stcherbina has been ruled out with a quadriceps strain he suffered at training on Wednesday night.

Francis Cullimore will make just his third appearance for the Waratahs in Stcherbina's place.
