Hawick 20 Glasgow Hawks 17 (aet)

Hawick produced a stirring recovery to win BT Cellnet trophy and complete a league and cup double in dramatic fashion at Murrayfield.

With the scores tied at 17-17, the game moved into extra time which wasa decided by a drop-goal from Gavin Douglas.

Hawick had surged into attack straight from the kick-off and with just three minutes on the clock were ahead with a Neil Stenhouse drop goal. Hawks hit back with a fine try from wing James Adams and then went went further ahead when flanker Mark Sitch took full advantage of some slack Hawick tackling to power his way through.

Hawick looked hungrier after the restart and launched a series of telling raids. Colin Turnbull sprinted in for a superb try after latching on to a long miss-pass from Stenhouse, who then chipped over the kick for good measure and reduce the gap to just two.

Hawks, however, proved they were not in the mood for wilting and they finished off a sustained spell of pressure by earning a third try.

Scotland Under-19 ace Tom Philip tested the Greens defence with a bullocking run before former Melrose man Iain Leighton powered through. And in the dramatic finale, Walker evaded three challenges before cruising round behind the posts to give Stenhouse an easy equalising kick. Then came the Douglas clincher.
