Loftus to host Bok trials
April 23, 2002

Pretoria rugby fans will have something to smile about after national coach Rudolf Straeuli confirmed that the proposed Springbok trial match would be held at Loftus Versfeld on May 19.

The home of the Blue Bulls was originally scheduled to host the Boks' Test against a combined South Sea Islands team consisting of players from Samoa, Tonga and Fiji, but that fell through when the International Rugby Board refused to sanction the match last week.

Instead, they can look forward to a game featuring 40-50 of the country's top players battling it out to be selected for the first Test of the season against Wales.
