Ulster promise no easy ride for Munster
May 8, 2002

Ulster coach Alan Solomons promises Munster "we wont be doing you any favours on Friday night when we play you at Ravenhill in the Interprovincial Championship - we desperately want to win the game."

The clash of the 1999 Heineken Cup champions and the 2002 finalists provides Munster with their last serious work-out before tangling with Leicester Tigers in Cardiff 15 days later.

But with Ulster going flat out for victory - although they will be without injury victims like David Humphreys, Jeremy Davidson, Adam Larkin and Jonathan Bell - Solomons accepts they will in fact be doing Munster a great service.

"The biggest favour we can do Munster is to play as well as we can and give them the best possible preparation for taking on Leicester," he said. "And, come the Heineken Cup final, we will be rooting for them.

"Munster have been fantastic over the last three years in the tournament, with two finals and a semi-final. This is the last shot for Declan Kidney as Munster coach, and for players Mick Galwey and Peter Clohessey. They deserve to finish on a real high."
