Sharks v Cats - Preview
May 9, 2002

VENUE & TIME: Durban - 1:05 AEST
HEAD TO HEAD: Sharks 3 Cats 2
COVERAGE: Fox Sports
LAST TIME: Sharks 30-12

WALKING WOUNDED
Sharks hooker John Smit is out of the game with a thigh injury and is likely to miss South Africa's opening Test against Wales on June 8. Halfback Neil Cole is replaced by veteran Chad Alcock. Captain and lock Mark Andrews and centres Trevor Halstead and André Snyman, all of whom made their long-awaited returns last week, are all fit and ready for action this weekend.
Cats loosehead prop Lawrence Sephaka has a stiff neck, while his front row partner, Willie Meyer, has a calf muscle injury and a sore Achilles tendon. Other players with a few niggles are No.8 André Vos with a groin injury and Jannes Labuschagne with a knee problem.

FORM
The Sharks can finish on a high note following last week's 23-10 win against the Bulls, while the Cats seem set for a disappointing finish to their most disappointing season after a 36-25 loss to the Stormers. The Cats haven't won since their round one success against the Bulls.

KEY MATCH-UPS
Ollie le Roux v Willie Meyer
Brad MacLeod-Henderson v Andre Vos
Mark Andrews v Willem Stoltz

WE THINK
Interestingly, these two sides met about this time last year, but it was the semi-final and the Sharks had an impressive 30-12 victory. What a difference a year makes. Springbok jerseys are up for grabs which should ensure a tough clash. Sharks again, but slightly closer, by 10.
