Greening switched to flanker
May 15, 2002

England hooker Phil Greening has been switched to open-side flanker for Wasps' Zurich Championship clash with Sale on Sunday.

Greening, who has been plagued by injuries over the last year, has failed to oust Wasps' first choice hooker Trevor Leota.

But his versatility could prove crucial as Wasps coach Warren Gatland looks to bolster a back row left stretched by an injury to former England skipper Lawrence Dallaglio.

Greening, who was yesterday named as England Sevens captain, has experience in the role after being switched to flanker in the 101-10 World Cup thrashing of Tonga at Twickenham in 1999.
