Parma ban suspended
May 15, 2002

Overmach Parma have had their two-year ban from European competition suspended after an appeal.

The Italian side were initially banned for two years and fined just over £6,000 after they failed to turn up for their rearranged Parker Pen European Shield tie with Pontypridd in January.

Parma were infuriated by European Rugby Cup Ltd's decision to relocate their home clash with Pontypridd to Gloucester's Kingsholm after ice had twice forced the game to be postponed.

However, ERC have halved the fine and suspended both penalties for two years on appeal, though both will be enforced if Parma repeat the offence within that time.

Meanwhile, Sale Sharks have been fined £8,000 after the ERC disciplinary panel ruled they had did not properly protect the pitch for their postponed home clash with Narbonne in January and failed to prepare a reserve venue.
