ARU lose RWC hospitality rights?
May 16, 2002

International Rugby Board chairman Vernon Pugh has reportedly withdrawn the corporate hospitality rights to RWC '03 from the Australian Rugby Union.

Reports suggest that Pugh has made the decision to withdraw the rights, with an estimated value of A$60million, because he fears the ARU are already making enough money out fo the World Cup as sole hosts.

His feeling was reportedly that the corporate windfall would take their earnings from the next year's showpiece event over the top.

The decision is sure to ruffle the feathers of ARU chief executive John O'Neill.
