New Munster blow as Horgan breaks hand
May 24, 2002

Munster wing Anthony Horgan has broken two bones in his hand during training and misses Saturday's Heineken Cup final with Leicester.

Horgan has also been forced to withdraw from Ireland's squad for next month's New Zealand tour and is replaced by Ulster winger Tyrone Howe.

Horgan's injury is a fresh blow to Munster with Lions centre Rob Henderson still to prove his fitness following a persistent ankle problem and lock Paul O'Connell also a doubtful starter because of a shoulder injury.

Meanwhile it was better news for Leicester, skipper Martin Johnson and flanker Neil Back recovering from colds that sidelined them for last weekend's Premiership play-off defeat. Full-back Tim Stimpson, whose monster late penalty knocked Llanelli out of Europe, has also reported fit following an ankle niggle.
