May 25, 2002

Springbok full-back Thinus Delport has confirmed that he has signed a two-year contract with Gloucester and will be leaving for England next week.

Delport, who had been negotiating with the Zurich Premiership club for the last month, finally put pen to paper on Friday night.

The Natal Shark becomes the latest Springbok after Percy Montgomery and Pieter Rossouw to leave South Africa for the lure of the pound.

Delport's contract with Gloucester will start on July 1 this year.

A club statement said: "Thinus has been released from the remainder of his contract and the Sharks wish him every success in this venture."
