Larkham out for a month
May 25, 2002

Wallaby five-eighth Stephen Larkham is expected to be fit for Australia's two Tests against France despite sustaining an elbow injury against the Crusaders in the Super 12 final.

Larkham was forced off the field in the first-half in Christchurch on Saturday night after falling awkwardly in a tackle by Crusaders No.8 Scott Robertson.

Early fears were that he had broken the arm, but X-rays revealed no fracture and the diagnosis is that he suffered a hyper-extended elbow joint.

He's expected to miss Australia's match against New Zealand Maori on June 15 in Perth. The First Test against France is at Melbourne's Colonial Stadium on June 22.

Larkham is no stranger to injury and is often a target for rough play from opposing teams. He struggled with an elbow injury against the touring Lions last year and has also undergone surgery on both knees.

While Larkham will be back in time for the first France Test, winger Ben Tune looks set to miss at least four and maybe six weeks after suffering a knee ligament strain in a Brisbane club match.
