Brumbies set sights on Tuqiri

The ACT Brumbies have set their sights on the double capture of wing wizards Joe Roff and Lote Tuqiri.

The Brumbies, Super 12 finalists for the last three years - winning in 2001, face an anxious few weeks as they try to sure up some contract issues with key players.

ACT Rugby Union general manager Mark Sinderberry is locked in negotiations with No.8 Peter Ryan, Wallaby prop Ben Darwin, wing Andrew Walker and new backs Tim Atkinson and Julian Huxley.

He has already see one star leave in the shape of wing Graeme Bond who has signed a two year deal with Zurich Premiership side Sale after falling out of favour with the Wallabies.

But Sinderberry said he hoped to sign former ACT star Roff next week, if he could track him down. Roff has been partying following a French championship win with his new side Biarritz.

He said he also hoped to enter negotiations with Brisbane Broncos and Australian rugby league Test winger Tuqiri.

"Certainly with a world class athlete like Lote Tuqiri, there is going to be interest from all the provinces and nationally from the Australian team," Sinderberry told AAP.

"At the moment we're going through that process to really find out how genuinely interested he is," Sinderberry said.

Elsewhere, Mark Bartholomeusz has signed a new two year deal with the Brumbies.
