Watch your backs, Tallis tells ARU
July 8, 2002

One of rugby league's most powerful assets, Kangaroos front-rower Gordon Tallis, has issued a warning to the Australian Rugby Union, declaring that the poaching of top players could become a two-way street after the 2003 World Cup.

Speaking as the Kangaroos prepare for Friday's one-off Test against Great Britain in Sydney, Tallis said rugby wingers were becoming so incensed by the influx of league flankers that they would starting switching to league.

"Rugby union had better watch out," he said Tallis. "They're throwing a lot of money around but it's not long before it's going to be a two-way street. Just from what we're hearing, it's going to be a two-way street. After the (rugby) World Cup I think there will be heaps come to league."
