Springboks bulk up
July 18, 2002
Springbok coach Rudolf Straeuli has made three changes to his side for Saturday's Tri Nations Test against the All Blacks in Wellington. The three changes from the run-on side that beat Samoa 60-18 two weeks ago are in the forward pack. Frontrowers Faan Rautenbach and Danie Coetzee make way for prop Willie Meyer and hooker James Dalton while specialist lock Jannes Labuschagne has been preferred to Hottie Louw.
The squad arrived in Wellington on Thursday morning after spending the past week training in Brisbane, where they will return on Sunday to prepare for the Wallabies at the Gabba the following week. "I believe we can dominate New Zealand in the set pieces," reserve prop Ollie le Roux said. "We showed that we have the ability against Argentina and they've got a very strong scrum. "On Saturday we just need to do the basics right to get good possession. But while good possession is important, it will be crucial to maintain that possession with good ball control against the All Blacks."
