Currie Cup Round-Up
August 24, 2002
Western Province maintained their unbeaten record in this year's Bankfin Currie Cup with a 41-13 victory over Boland at Newlands. WP stars Breyton Paulse and Pieter Dixon celebrated their 50th caps for the province with tries as they outscored their visitors six tries to one to clinch maximum points. The game was marred by the news that WP centre Robbie Fleck suffered concussion in his first game back since he injured his ankle against New Zealand in a Vodacom Tri-Nations Test in 2001. Coach Gert Smal afterwards confirmed that Fleck suffered concussion and the player would be spending the next three weeks on the sidelines.
