August 25, 2002

The race for the second Americas zone qualifying spot for RWC '03 is wide open after Chile recorded a shock 21-13 victory over the USA.

Replacement Cristián Onetto was the star of the show for the home side an interception try and 11 points with his goalkicking.

The win, combined with Uruguay's 25-23 upset victory over Canada in Montevideo, tightens the race for the second place in the Americas qualifying pool.

The USA stand second, with a 2-3 record and nine points, while Chile improved to 2-2 and eight points and Uruguay are now 1-3 and six points.

Canada have already clinched one of the pool's two places in the 2003 World Cup after four victories and 13 points.
