Ireland squad to face Romania
August 27, 2002

Ireland have announced the squad for their first clash of a busy autumn campaign against Romania on September 7.

Ireland coach Eddie O'Suliivan has been boosted by the return from injury of Bath's Kevin Maggs and Munster's Rob Henderson who both missed this summer's tour to New Zealand.

The Bath centre picked up the injury in March and missed the closing months of the domestic season and Ireland's summer Test tour of New Zealand.

Maggs returns to Eddie O'Sullivan's squad along with British Lions centre Rob Henderson to bolster the Ireland midfield.

Henderson also missed the two-Test tour after being dogged by injuries to his knee and ankle for much of last season.

Back row forward Eric Miller also returns from injury for the Thomond Park clash.

Sidelined by injury are Geordan Murphy, David Wallace, Anthony Horgan, Paul O'Connell and Shane Horgan although O'Sullivan is hoping the Leinster back will be avialble for their World Cup qualifying clashes with Georgia and Russia.

The starting XV will be announced on September 3.
