Western Province produced the performance of the weekend in the latest Bankfin Currie Cup action with a crushing 68-24 victory over Nashua Griquas. WP ran in ten tries in their record-breaking win with Eagon Seconds grabbing a hat-trick at Absa Stadium. The only black mark on the holders performance was the ill-discipline. Referee Jonathan Kaplan yellow carding debutant centre Jean de Villiers late in the first half and fullback Percy Montgomery and centre Marius Joubert in the second. Flyhalf Chris Rossouw was the star of the show grabbing 23 points for his team via a try and nine out of nine conversions.

WP 68: The Free State Cheetahs continued their strong showing in this year's competition beating the Falcons 47-15. The Cheetahs outscored thier hosts by seven tries to two and the win keeps the top of their group. Flyhalf Kennedy Simba stole the show with two tries, two penalties and two conversions.

Falcons 15: Boland Cavaliers ran out winners 44-19 against the Griffons at Boland Stadium. Fullback Leon van den Heever notched to keep his sides hopes of making the ext pahse alive.

Griffons 19: In the most eagerly anticipated clash of the round the Blue Bulls and the Natal Sharks battled to a 17-17 draw. The see-saw match ended with flyhalf, Jaco van der Westhuyzen slotting a penalty with five minutes remaining to level the scores. The result means both teams have booked their places in the Currie Cup top eight.

They also grabbed an important bonus point in the process but the win was in doubt until a late flourish carried them home. Flyhalf Rynhard Van As contributed 22 points to the Eagles total.

Eagles 37: Elsewhere on Friday flyhalf Louis Koen slotted home a 52-metre penalty in injury time to give the Lions a 36-35 win over the Pumas.
