Evans slams error-ridden Quins
September 14, 2002

Harlequins boss Mark Evans was not a happy man after watching his side crash to their third successive defeat at the hands of Leeds at The Stoop.

The Quins chief executive and coach watched his side fall to a 33-23 defeat, leaving them bottom of the Premiership.

"It was possibly a game that we threw - anyway you look at it we lost," said Evans.

He added: "There was a loss of concentration in the side and we made too many errors. If you make 19 errors you are going to lose.

"The other big thing was that our ball maintenance was poor and that meant we never really got away.

"This ruins my weekend and I am feeling pretty poor right now.

"We have now lost three games so it would be stupid to say everything will be fine. We did exactly the same thing last year and that was unacceptable. The fans are right to be unhappy."

Leeds' director of rugby Phil Davies whose side now go top of the Premiership table, was delighted with the result.

He said: "Winning on the road is the most significant thing and that is why this result is so pleasing after the two wins at Headingley.

"I never thought we would be where we are now. I knew we could do well, but not this well."
