Russell undecided over his future
September 16, 2002

Springbok and Pumas utility-back Brent Russell has denied reports that he has already committed himself to a new province for next season.

The Sharks and the Lions have held talks with the live-wire's agent but no decision has yet been made.

Russell insisted his priority was to to his best for the Pumas in the Currie Cup Top Eight, "We worked hard as a team to get into the play-offs and we have achieved this," said Russell. "It isn't fair on the union or my fellow players to read of me having agreed to terms with another province when we still have at least four matches to play in this year's domestic competition."

"I have spoken with several people, among them the national coach Rudolf Straeuli. "There is no need to rush any decision. I have to focus on my game and play well enough to make the end of year Springbok tour. Once I have achieved this, then I can look at future prospects."
