Tuqiri tipped for 7s selection

Former Australian and Broncos rugby league winger Lote Tuqiri is tipped to make his international rugby debut at the Brisbane leg of the IRB Sevens in February.

Tuqiri's former league teammates Mat Rogers and Wendell Sailor followed a similar path when both made their international rugby debuts at the Sevens this year after switching codes.

It was hoped that Tuqiri would make his debut for the Waratahs in the 15-man game during a tour of France in December, but the tour has been scrapped.

The Waratahs are now scheduled to play their first trial against the Waikato Chiefs in Rotorua on February 8 following the Brisbane Sevens.
