November 8, 2002

Star rugby league recruits Lote Tuqiri and Nathan Blacklock will get their first taste of rugby union on Monday when they take to the training paddock for the NSW Waratahs.

Both players will have their first run with their new teammates at the NSW base in Narrabeen on Sydney's northern beaches.

Tuqiri is a former league international and NRL premiership winner with the Brisbane Broncos while Blacklock was regarded as one the NRL's hottest talents with St George Illawarra before he signed with NSW and decided to sit out the entire 2002 season.

The Waratahs are beginning preparations for the 2003 Super 12 season which will begin on February 21 against the Auckland Blues at Aussie Stadium.

The Waratahs' pre-season will consist of participation in the Southern Cross Series in which they will come up against the Chiefs on February 7 in Rotarua, followed five days later with a clash against defending champions Canterbury in Newcastle.
