Archer set for landmark appearance
November 8, 2002

Bristol Shoguns captain Garath Archer will be making his 100th appearance in the Club shirt this weekend when he leads the team out against his former club Newcastle on Sunday afternoon.

The England international has been in superb form this season, and has been leading the team out in place of injured Club captain Ross Beattie.

Commenting on the official Bristol Shoguns website, Archer said: "I've had a long affiliation with Bristol Shoguns and it is nice to hit a landmark. The best way to celebrate will be with a win on Sunday."

Shoguns supporters may also be celebrating other landmark appearances with both Lee Best and Alex Brown looking to play their 50th league appearances on Sunday.

Head coach Peter Thorburn, who has named a squad for Sunday's Zurich Premiership clash, welcomes back Argentine half back pairing Agustin Pichot and Felipe Contepomi, who will both be available for selection after international commitments.

The Shoguns squad is also boosted by the return from injury of back row players Ben Sturnham and Matt Salter.

Tickets for Sunday's fixture are available from the Shoguns Ticket Hotline on 0117 311 1461.
