November 12, 2002

Wallabies captain George Gregan is on a flight back to England after making a mad dash from Ireland back to Australia to be on hand for the birth of his second child.

Gregan arrived back in Australia on Monday and made it to the hospital in time to be alongside his wife Erica as she have birth to a healthy daughter named Charlie.

Gregan didn't have long to spend with his new child as he left early on Tuesday to catch a flight back to England.

He will arrive in London late on Wednesday and will participate in Australia's final two training sessions ahead of Saturday's Test against England at Twickenham.

Daughter Charlie weighed in at six pounds eight ounces and both mother and baby were doing well.

Charlie is the couples' second child. Older brother Max was born last year.
