New Bok can't wait for the action

South African flanker Pierre Uys is relishing the prospect his debut against Scotland at Murrayfield on Saturday and predicts a tough test in his first start for the Springboks.

The 26-year-old, who plays for the Pumas back in his homeland, comes into the touring side following their heavy defeat by France at the weekend.

Uys was briefed by some of his team-mates on what to expect from the home side and said: "I have heard from some of the other Test players that Scotland are very good in the ruck and are also very physical so I know it's going to be a very hard game.

"I haven't looked at any tapes of them yet but I also know that they're very
good at line-outs and the main thing is that we sort that out.

"We expect that they will be hungry against us and it depends on both sides attitudes. But there are no easy Tests these days."

The South Africans have been heavily criticised back home for their
disappointing performance in their 30-10 defeat in France and Uys admitted: "We had a very bad game against the French and our supporters are very down. It is a big game against Scotland and we have to win.

"We didn't look for any excuses after our defeat but now we have to pick up
our heads and go forward into the next game.

"The coach had a word with us but he didn't fly off the handle. He explained
a few things that we have to work on and now we understand the mistakes we made. He also showed us some things that we can use in the future."
